I Choose JOY!

Sunrise in Oslo

I woke up a recent morning with the King and Country song, Joy running through my head. Since it was an early 5 am, I decided that I would try to go back to sleep, but as the song stuck, I realize that it is a theme that God has been running through my head with all sorts of tunes and melodies!

The first that came to mind was another super early morning, 4:30 am arriving at the Oslo airport to get home from our recent vacation. I was bummed my vacation was over and bummed to be up at 4:30 am. I was dreading the approximate 18 hours it was going to take to get home. I was concerned that we would have some of the same issues getting home as we had getting to Norway. As I was walking through the terminal I caught sight of a gorgeous sunrise with a stunning glimpse of evergreens and mist.

This was a great reminder that God’s beauty can be found in even unexpected places if we remember to look for it. I had taken almost 2000 photos on my vacation, and one of my favorites was taken through a window at the airport.

I choose JOY!

Where can we choose JOY in our lives today? What changes do we need to make in our thinking and praying and speaking and general attitude to make JOY our choice?

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thes. 5:16-18

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
